Last.fm is a service that you can use to collect all the music you listen in order to generate a profile about your tastes, if you add a subscription of 3€/month you can also listening radio based on general recommended music, an artist and so on. I find also very useful to look for festival or concerts, in particular to discover new bands that you might like because close to your music tastes.
After some time I renewed the last.fm subscription for additional 3 months and I discover a set of nice reports on my music tastes:

Trend map: shows my listening trends over 2010

Ultimamente sento di aver perso la speranza in un po’ di cose…politica, ambiente per esempio. Forse perchè vedo le cose sempre uguali o con piccoli cambiamenti, spesso fasulli, contrariamente rispetto a quello che sento professare/dichiarare.
Forse è perchè sto crescendo…forse per altro o forse è tutto fumo…

AmaroK è un fichissimo programma per ascoltare la musica. Avete presente ITunes? ecco, qualcosa di meravigliosamente migliore, almeno secondo me.Tra le 1000 features ci manca solo che ti faccia il caffè:
Integra un sistema di statistiche, che può essere ampliato utilizzando il sito last.fm. In pratica ogni nuova canzone viene registrata dal sito e viene tracciato un profilo di ogni persona. Dopo un certo numero di canzoni, ogni utente viene collegato ad altri che hanno gli stessi gusti. Io con questo metodo ho scoperto che i Colplay non erano niente male.
Include il supporto per radio e podcast.
I tasti di controllo sono globali in tutto il sistema, se ho aperto un altro programma e voglio abbassare il volume -> [tasto di Win] + [tasto -], senza switchare finestre e incasinare niente.
Permette la gestione delle copertine. Le copertine vengono prelevate da amazon. Se poi l'album ti piace puoi pure comprarlo.
Permette di completare i tag di una canzone integrando la tecnologia di musicbrainz
Supporta delle specie di estensioni stile Mozilla Firefox
Tiene tutti i file indicizzati mediante database (mysql, postgres oppure semplici file).
