Some time ago I’ve got (thanks Daniele) this link about Software development.  Was written 11 years ago by Joel Spolsky (co-founder of Stack Overflow and Fog Creek) and contains good principles.

Although I think in software development there are no strict rules, Joel had very good points to support his article.
